A timeline of key events that have taken place and the transformation of the Dragon's Heart Hospital.


In December  2019 authorities reported the first few cases of  severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2:) in Wuhan. The virus is responsible for COVID-19 commonly referred to as coronavirus.

Spread Of The Virus

Coronavirus began to spread to Asia, Japan, Thailand and Korea, with the World Health Organisation (WHO) giving its first situational report.

First Case Recorded in UK

First case of Covid-19 confirmed in UK late January, when a Chinese national became ill with the disease in late January.

Italy Becomes Epicentre

According to WHO the number of global cases had risen to nearly 76,000. Italy became the epicentre of the virus spread, particularly in its Northern.

Cases spread in the UK

Britain’s third patient tests positive for coronavirus, having contracted the illness at a conference in Singapore. The 53-year-old so-called “super spreader” is later linked with 11 other cases, five of which are in the UK.

Coronavirus Reaches Wales

On 28th February,  first case in Wales recorded was an individual from Swansea who contracted the COVID-19 having travelled back from Northern Italy. 800 people had been infected in Italy with cases reported in 14 other countries.
